A PI System rarely fails all at once. It degrades. Interfaces drift out of buffering, archives fill faster than anyone projected, tags accumulate that nobody owns, and the Asset Framework model stops matching the plant it was built to describe. By the time an engineer stops trusting a trend, the problem is usually years old.

A LAMR health audit establishes the actual condition of your PI System — infrastructure, data quality, model integrity and operational practice — and gives you a prioritised remediation plan with effort estimates against each finding.

What the audit covers

  • Infrastructure and architecture. Data Archive sizing and growth trajectory, collective and high-availability configuration, backup and restore validation, version currency and supportability.
  • Interface and connection health. Buffering configuration, failover behaviour, scan-class tuning, exception and compression settings reviewed against what the instrument actually produces.
  • Data quality. Stale and flatlined tags, digital states masking bad data, excessive compression deviation, timestamp anomalies and clock drift, gaps correlated against interface outages.
  • Asset Framework integrity. Template inheritance, orphaned elements, attributes resolving to dead references, analyses failing silently, event frames generating without consumers.
  • Security and access. Identity mappings, service account practice, firewall posture between the OT and IT boundary.
  • Operational practice. Who owns the system, what happens when it breaks, and whether institutional knowledge sits with one person.

What you receive

  • A findings register, each item rated by operational risk and remediation effort
  • Quantified data-quality metrics you can re-run later to measure improvement
  • An architecture assessment against current AVEVA supportability
  • A prioritised roadmap separating what must be fixed now from what can be planned
  • A readout session with your engineering and IT stakeholders

When this is the right engagement

Health audits earn their keep when a system has been running for years without a structured review; when ownership has changed hands through retirement, reorganisation or acquisition; before a migration or upgrade, so you are not carrying existing problems onto new infrastructure; before an analytics or cloud programme, because models built on unverified data inherit every one of its defects; and when engineers have quietly started exporting to spreadsheets instead of trusting the system.

Our specialists hold AVEVA PI System Installation Specialist and PI System Infrastructure Specialist accreditations, and the audit is delivered to be actionable by your own team — not as a dependency on ours.
